Improve towing stability, control and comfort with the CURT 17499 TruTrack 4P Weight Distribution Hitch. Designed for trailers with a 5,000 to 8,000-lb. gross trailer weight and 500 to 800-lb. tongue weight, the TruTrack combines weight distribution and active sway control into one integrated towing system.
Unlike traditional weight distribution systems that rely on chains, the TruTrack uses heavy-duty adjustable support brackets to hold the spring bars in position both vertically and laterally. This design creates two points of sway resistance at the trailer frame, while CURT’s integrated spring-and-cam system in the hitch head provides two additional points of active sway control. Together, these four points of sway control help keep the trailer aligned behind the tow vehicle.
The system uses forged steel trunnion-style spring bars to leverage trailer tongue weight and distribute it more evenly across the axles of the tow vehicle and trailer. This helps level the towing combination while improving handling and stability.
Installation and adjustment are simplified with an adjustable head design featuring interlocking nuts and preset tilt positions. The included 2-inch shank can also be flipped to provide the necessary rise or drop for different trailer setups.
The CURT 17499 includes the hitch head, adjustable shank, two spring bars, support brackets, hitch pin and clip, and necessary installation components. The trailer ball is sold separately.
